3 women relieved of gold chain within half-an-hour in city

Mysore, Apr. 25- In the continuing spree of chain snatching incidents, three women were robbed of their gold chains by bike-borne miscreants within half-an-hour of each incident in Vijayanagar Police Station limits here last evening.

In the first incident, Ambika Patil, wife of Shivakumar Patil, was walking along with her friends on 10th Cross Road near Divyaroopa Kalyana Mantap in Vijayanagar, at about 5.50 pm, when a Honda Activa scooter borne miscreant managed to yank off her 30 gram gold chain and flee in a flash.

In the second incident that reportedly occurred 10 minutes later on the same road, Kamakshi, wife of one Nagesh, was walking to her friend`s house, when a scooter-borne miscreant managed to relieve her of her 25 gm chain.

In the third incident, Pushpavathi, wife of one Rajareddy, was walking near Annapoorneshwari temple on 11th Main Road, Hebbal 1st Stage, at about 6.30 pm, when a motorcycle borne miscreant managed to snatch her 40 gm chain and sped away.

The 3 incidents have shattered the public, with yesterday being Akshaya Tritiya Day, which many people consider as the most auspicious one for buying gold and jewellery.

City Police Commissioner K.L. Sudheer visited all the three spots of crime.

The Vijayanagar Police are investigating.
