Srirangapatna, Apr. 25 (DM)- As the news of Sai Baba`s death spread, tourists and devotees joined the inmates of Sri Sai Orphanage on the banks of River Cauvery at Srirangapatna town to offer prayers.

The Orphanage that was visited twice by Baba (in 1974 and 1986) had organised prayers for Baba`s recovery.

Residents of the Orphanage gave up food and held special bhajans on learning about Sai Baba`s death. A large number of people visited the ashram and offered floral tributes. The belief that Baba may reincarnate on the banks of River Cauvery close to Srirangapatna town on Bangalore-Mysore Highway attracted a large number of devotees to the Sai Mandir Orphanage. The rumours of reincarnation of the Baba also led the people flocking to Srirangapatna Government Hospital to have a darshan of his reincarnation.

Even media persons and devotees from Puttaparthi joined the devotees expecting the rebirth of the Baba at the hospital. But their wait until late in the night turned out to be a disappointment as nothing of that sort happened. However, the hospital recorded the birth of a baby girl at 8 am, which was followed by a boy at 3 pm.

Sai Baba, sometime ago, had declared that he would be reborn as Prem Sai at Gunaparthi on the banks of Cauvery river close to Srirangapatna. But there is no such place called as Gunaparthi close to Srirangapatna and devotees recall that the Baba himself had asked to name the place of his rebirth as Gunaparthi.

Satya Sai Baba had proclaimed that he was born as Sairam in Shirdi, Maharashtra in his first rebirth, as Sai Baba in Puttaparthi in his second rebirth and now as Prem Sai in Gunaparthi in his third reincarnation, according to the devotees.
